Soooo, I'm gonna try to write a little something about us. I (Anita) have always been a bit of a collector of things, especially nature inspired things-like feathers, nests, sticks, wooden bowls and ROCKS! Whenever we (Glenn, myself, kiddos and now grand-kiddos) went places I would pick up a rock or twig-whatever, you get the gist of it. Recently though-the last 2 years or so I decided to do something with those. My son and his family gave me a rock tumbler for Christmas and, oh the demon they unleashed! My gosh, I tumbled and tumbled and watched video after video of Rob from Michigan Rocks until I now feel comfortable bragging a bit about my own. I started cutting rocks and drilling rocks then hanging them on leather cords or chains until I had a huge stash of them and went into a booth and started selling. My first saw was a very inexpensive one from Amazon but it was enough to get me by with. I also increased my tumbler capacity to two more dual barrel types-my hobby was now an obsession.
Then Glenn caught the bug!!! He bought me a 12 lbs. tumbler, another single barrel tumbler for polish only, then a 10-inch trim saw from Hi-Tech Diamond and then we got a Cab King from Kingsley North and a slant lap cabber, then a Hi-Tech Diamond 5-inch trim saw needless to say, we are now a small business. We made a few trips to Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, a few local spots and a secret location locally (thanks Linda!) and started to really pick up rocks and stones. We also made several purchases from other rock, mineral, and gem shops to get us amped up. We did a couple of fair sized craft shows and did well. That was more than enough for Glenn to decide "ok, this is what we are gonna do in our retirement." Bless his heart-I work as much or more now than I did while I was employed outside the home and so does he! He purchased a 16-inch slab saw from Highland Park Lapidary and we have been slabbing away! What you see in our website shop is our beginning on-line business, as well as our newer Etsy page (anitarasner). We hope that with your support we can continue to grow and fulfil all our (yours and ours) rock dreams!
